Escort Cards vs. Place Cards

Escort Cards vs. Place Cards

The hardest part is over. You’ve already finished your seating chart and made sure that your single friend from college is sitting next to your fiance’s cute co-worker and that your one crazy aunt is at table full of people who will love her jokes. Now onto the fun part – designing your escort and place cards!

First things first. Decide if you want escort cards, place cards or both! Depending on the type of wedding that you want and the amount of formality and preciseness in your seating chart, there are tons of different options for your design and display. We’ve included a little bit of info about each option (and of course, gorgeous inspiration) to make your decision making process that much easier.

Escort Cards include the guest’s name and table assignment. The simplest form is a tented paper card but there are tons of creative ways to display this information! This moss-y seating chart below is perfect for displaying names and table numbers at your garden wedding.

Escort cards are best if you want to give your guests a specific table to sit at without assigning seats. Display them in a fun and creative way that goes with your wedding theme and let them find their name!

Place cards just include the guest’s name. These are found on the table at the place where the guest will be sitting, directing them to a specific seat.

*For a formal plated dinner, you can choose to have both a seating chart and a place card. You really can have your cake and eat it too.
