The Style
Coleen Hubbard with Plank & Pearl Vintage dreamed up this shoot full of eclectic wedding inspiration. The vision was inspired by the European concept of Cabinet of Curiosities, which are small, personal collections of tantalizing objects from science, botany, anatomy, geology, history, and anthropology. Very popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, these collections were often referred to as “Wonder Rooms” because they capture the mystery and beauty of the natural world. Each object was carefully selected to tell a story of a passion for nature and adventure–and the tangible spark between real-life couple Willa and Kyle. Shells, plants, stones, bones, fossils, specimens, nests, and vintage books and prints form the backdrop for a unique environment full of curiosity and wonder.
Paper Goods
For the stationery suite I was very inspired by vintage botanic illustrations and decided to make one of my own! I chose to sketched a thistle for a subtle pop of color and to reflect the more gritty nature of this eclectic wedding inspiration shoot. I paired this drawing with clean fonts and black envelopes for a more modern aesthetic
Signage & Decor
To add to the shoot I used one of my chalk board silver trays as a menu board – completing the vibe with forged mushroom soup and wild rabbit loin of course! I also hand-lettered one of Coleen’s vintage globes with a wanderlust inspired quote, “Love is the greatest adventure.”
